End of 2018

14/12/2018
End of Year

Thank you so much for the many happy memories I will be taking back to Pozieres with me at the end of this week. Nanango SS is a fantastic, caring community, with everyone dedicated to the provision of the best educational opportunities for every child enrolled here. The staff are enthusiastic, focused and determined to give their best every day, and truly care for the children in their classes. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, stay safe, enjoy the lovely summer weather, rest and relax, ready for a terrific 2019!

New Principal
It is with great pleasure that I am able to inform you that the Acting Principal for Term 1, 2019, is Mr Andrew Cummings. Mr Flood will be providing him with induction and a welcome to Nanango early in the New Year. We warmly welcome Mr Cummings to Nanango State School.

Sparkie Day Friday, December 14th
Students are very excited about Sparkie Day and the opportunity it gives for them to celebrate their outstanding behaviour in Term 4. Congratulations to all those students, and to their families who provide the role models and encouragement for their children.

Graduation Lunch
Thursday, December 13th, we celebrated the graduation of our Year Six students in the hall from 1.30pm to 3pm. It is a fantastic opportunity to share the memories they have of their primary school years, as well as honour the achievements they have made. It was also an opportunity to reflect and remember Blake Warwick, who would have graduated today as well. Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Our fantastic tuckshop convenor, Kerri, and her helpers, put together a delicious range of finger foods which were greatly enjoyed by everyone. We would like to warmly thank Kerri for all she does for our school.

Guard of Honour
The Guard of Honour is truly the pinnacle of Nanango SS tradition as our Year Six students run through the school, touching base with all the younger students of the school and finally ringing the bell before they head off to the movies in Kingaroy. I am personally looking forward to being part of this tradition.

Farewell and Thanks to Departing Staff
We have a number of staff leaving at the end of 2018, and we wish them all the very best for a bright and happy future. Betty Jay (28 years service) and Marie Pike (24 years service) are looking forward to the pleasures of retirement after many years of service to state schooling. Amy Blokkeerus is off to Baringa State School, Emma Pentland Sandgate State School, and Nathan Wynder is heading to Tasmania on a completely new adventure. We wish of them the very best and thank them sincerely for all they have done for Nanango SS.

Happy Holidays!
Nanango SS closes on Friday, December 14th for the summer vacation. School resumes on Tuesday, January 29th after the Australia Day Holiday. All the very best to everyone!
